If you’re visiting the Cotswolds then you absolutely must take a day trip to Bourton (affectionately known as the Venice of the Cotswolds).

This tourist hotspot is known for its picturesque bridges on the sleepy River Windrush and its quaint, chocolate-box village stone houses. It’s a countryside lover’s dream.

There’s plenty to do in the village:

Birdland Park & Gardens – A wildlife park exhibiting penguins, parrots and other exciting birds. Not enough? Well there’s a dinosaur trail too! Lots to entertain small ones.

The Cotswold Motoring Museum – Home of the beloved Brum and other vintage cars.

The Model Village – You guessed it, a replica of Bourton-on-the-Water in miniature form.

This busy little village has a fantastic collection of charming shops that you won’t find anywhere else and the same is true when it comes to finding places to eat. There are traditional tea rooms, homely pubs and gourmet restaurants. You won’t go hungry that’s for sure.

After a busy day with the family, it’s nice to sit down (with a fish and chips in-hand preferably) and watch the ducks on the river.
