Yesterday (October 10th) it was World Mental Health Day and on the whole we think that’s a good thing, provided companies genuinely look after employees and are not simply piggy backing off the social media hashtag.
Side note: This is why there is little point in leaning on timely trends for blogging as part of a business marketing strategy, as they are saturated topics and it’s not easy to be found amongst waves of content. If you want to join in the conversation, do it because you enjoy it.
Aside from it being a trending topic, it’s a good thing awareness is being spread cross-platform for mental health. It’s important the subject is no longer taboo so people can get help and work-life culture can change.
Incase it should help anyone who is looking for ways to de-stress and calm an anxious mind, we’ve put together a list of activities that actually help us at Cotswolds Content, and we hope they help you too:

Reading
Reading is a form of escapism, encouraging your brain to focus on only one task, reducing stress.
Drawing
Drawing aides relaxation in the same way reading does, except the act of moving your pencil helps ground you.
Gaming
Are you spotting a trend here? Of course gaming is quite clearly a form of escapism, but it’s also a great way to take your mind off because it’s easily engaging and quickly enjoyable.
Brown noise
Brown noise sounds slightly more natural than white noise, making it less abrasive but with the same noise cancelling qualities. Listening to brown noise can help you focus and even drift off. Babies seem to love it too we’ve found!
ASMR for sleep
ASMR seems to help your body to release endorphins and these in turn help you relax, promoting better sleep.
Walking
Walking is great because it appears to help regulate your body’s stress response. If you feel low, it can be really beneficial to get out into nature. This doesn’t have to be in the countryside either, go for a town walk. You’re bound to spot foxes, robins, squirrels or at the very least pigeons! Fresh air, trees, animals and the motion of regular movement can be a great way of calming a racing mind.
